The intention of the Physical Education curriculum is to enable children to develop knowledge, skills and vocabulary in a broad range of sporting activities, as well as developing values and transferrable life skills such as fairness and respect. Develop the enjoyment of physical activity and recognise the importance of it for physical and mental wellbeing. The curriculum builds on children’s ability to work collaboratively as a team this in turn develops their resilience, responsibility, integrity and communication skills. At Lodge Farm we intend, through sports, for children the feeling of camaraderie among the pupils of a group, enabling them to cooperate and work well together.
At Lodge Farm, we will aim to give every pupil a fair opportunity to access the components of our PE curriculum in order to reach the following objectives:
- Children to leave with a positive relationship to physical health, activity and personal wellbeing.
- Children to use physical education to develop their understanding of competition, including: fair play, sportsmanship, team work, passion and playing within the rules.
- Children to have thorough knowledge of the basic skills needed to access specific sports.
