Last Day of Term

Year 3 had some wonderful activities on their last day, including the “Mystery of the Missing Emoji Colours” and the “Mystery of the Missing Bunny Costume”! As usual both Year 3 classes made us very proud, as they have all week in these unusual circumstances. Clearly demonstrating the Lodge Farm value of resilience, all children have adapted to changes without question and have made washing their hands multiple times a day standard procedure! Year 3 staff wish you the best of luck and health over this extended break, enjoy family time, enjoy the outdoors and remember we love and miss you!

Ancient Egypt

Year 3 are loving learning about Ancient Egypt! We have mummified oranges, made Egyptian jewellery, explored why the Nile was so important to farmers and built our own pyramids from sugar cubes – discovering it is quite difficult! We have made our own papyrus and have written letters to another school on them, we can’t wait to hear they have arrived! We are really excited about our trip to London to see Tutankhmun’s treasures on March 30th, so please ensure you have given your consent.

Christmas Decoration Morning

Year 3 had a wonderful time welcoming parents and grown ups to “the North Pole”! Children applied to be elves, made elf hats, raced reindeer and wrapped presents for their Christmas party (all whilst keeping warm with a hot chocolate)! Thank you to all who made the day possible!

Remembrance Day Poppy Making

Year 3 spent the morning learning about Remembrance Day and why we wear poppies. They then used plastic bottles to create their own eye-catching poppies. On their leaf they wrote one word that they felt was important when reflecting upon wartime, there was some lovely contributions such as “thankful”, “hero” and “protect”.

Stone Age Day

We are excited to inform you that in Year 3 we study the Stone Age and archaeology and have planned a fantastic incursion from the “Stone Age Man” next week. As well as hearing about the Stone Age and handling Stone Age artefacts, children will be experiencing life in the Stone Age including jewellery making, cave painting and fruit foraging!

This experience will be on Tuesday 10th September and we will be asking for a voluntary contribution of ÂŁ5.

As we will be travelling back in time for the day, your child may want to dress up as someone from the Stone Age. Please do not feel that you have to go and spend lots of money on a Stone Age outfit. It could be brown clothing, animal patterns etc.

We look forward to having a “wild” day!
